Description
The Wolpe Collection by Monotype is a celebration of a great designer with an outstanding body of work: Berthold Wolpe.
In the late 1930s, Berthold Wolpe designed several dramatically contrasting and groundbreaking typefaces including Albertus, Fanfare, Pegasus, Tempest and Sachsenwald. Some of Wolpe’s designs found a place on the thousands of book jackets he designed for Faber & Faber, including Albertus which would go-on to achieve wider fame on signage throughout the City of London. But most of Wolpe’s type designs faded from view as the century unwound. Until now. The Wolpe Collection, remastered by Toshi Omagari of the Monotype Studio, shines a light on Wolpe and his inspired burst of creativity, 80 years ago.
